Misery Signals - Controller

Misery Signals - Controller
Ferret Music
By Bob Cooper
Wisconsin’s leading metal representatives, Misery Signals, is back with their third album. Controller continues Misery’s ethereal brand of music that is highlighted with richly layered guitar tracks and punctuated with deep double-bass drums and majestically deep vocals. As usual for this band, there is no monotony here. The mood changes from song to song creating a range of feeling that is almost cinematic in nature, yet the roots are constantly present.

This is a band known to incite near-riot conditions in the mosh pit one minute while leaving many of us audiophile purists in the back standing dazed with our jaws hanging open, and this record seems to capture those qualities in the cleanliness of the studio. (Of course, who could expect any less with Devin Townsend wearing the producer’s hat?) The result is ten tracks that will definitely make an impression from the first listen to the last.
