Austrian Death Machine - Total Brutal
Metal Blade Records

Ready for something somewhat ridiculous, yet heavy as hell and a whole lot of fun to listen to? Then put on Austrian Death Machine’s debut album, Total Brutal. The entire album is a heavy metal tribute to the governor of California and star of many of the best (and worst) action flicks ever made, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying decided the “big man” formerly known as the “World’s Strongest Man,” deserved an album themed completely on some of his movies. The album opens with a spoken intro from “Ahhnold,” which leads into some song titles that chances are, you’ll recognize. “Get to the Choppa,” “I am a Cybernetic Organism, Living Tissue Over (Metal) Endoskeleton,” “Come With Me if You Want to Live,” “You Have Just Been Erased,” “If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It” and “It’s Not A Tumor,” are just a few of the hits you’ll hear.
The “Terminator” throws in some short intros for each song as well, but just because the album’s songs are somewhat in jest, the music is hardcore with a guitar solo in every one of them. These solos come from some of the best shredders around including Mark MacDonald (Mercury Switch), Eyal Levi and Emil Werstler (Daath), Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage), Nick Hipa (As I Lay Dying), Jason Barnes, Jason Suecof and Dan Fitzgerald. Total Brutal is available in stores now and for more news on Austrian Death Machine’s beyond brutal album, visit www.austriandeathmachine.com.
