Kreep - I'm The One You Hate

Kreep, started in 2001 by frontman Brett Pirozzi, was voted “Favorite up and coming band,” in a review by Metal Edge magazine, and with good reason. The seven-track album gives you a nice combination of tunes you’d expect to hear on the radio, but with the added twist of a harder core sound that metalheads can enjoy as well. Hailing from Sin City, Nevada, bandmates Brian Jackson (guitar), Alan Vine (bass) and Ray Maxim (drums) join Pirozzi in a full-fledged metal assault on the senses.
To give you an idea of what to expect, my personal favorite, track one, “The Way That I Am,” gets things rocking from the start. This song reminds me of “Debonaire” by Dope, a song you might remember from the movie The Fast and the Furious, which is playing during the SWAT team raid on Johnny Tran’s house. Track two, “Lead Us Not,” and some of track seven, “Is It Everything,” are reminiscent of Rob Zombie’s later work, which includes the intermingling of music with spoken lines (about death) in “Lead Us Not.” Then, you’ve got their rendition of Public Enemy’s “She Watched Channel Zero” on track five, which rounds out the album with a metal rap tune that they not only covered well, but has also quickly become a fan favorite. Overall, seven tracks just wasn’t enough from a band sure to be making waves for some time.
